Brodie’s Boy A Close Fourth At Wolverhampton – Race Report

Brodie’s Boy delivered another solid performance at the Midlands track on Tuesday, 25th November, losing out very narrowly.

He was well supported in the minutes leading up to the race and went off as the 3/1 favourite against eight rivals. Brodie’s Boy broke well and raced prominently in fourth throughout, with little change to the order until the field turned for home three furlongs out in what had been a steadily run contest. As the tempo lifted, Marco Giani asked Brodie’s Boy for an effort and he responded, but he appeared to get outpaced as the race inevitably turned into a sprint finish. I’d Go Maniac won by a nose, with Brodie’s Boy only three-quarters of a length behind.

After the race, jockey Marco Ghiani gave us his verdict on the performance:

“He ran really well, quick out the gates, we had a lovely position all the way round. There was an even tempo the whole way round, he hit top gear turning in but probably needs a stronger pace. He tried hard to stay with them but they were just a little bit quicker, but I was pleased with him.”

Trainer Tony Carroll reported the following morning :

It was a good run last night from Brodie’s Boy, I was very pleased with him. The race wasn’t quite run to suit, there wasn’t enough pace in it until the straight where there was too much and it just caught him. He won’t be long in winning now. He’s fine this morning, the weather is nice and he’s been out in the paddock.”

After another solid performance, it surely feels only a matter of time before Brodie’s Boy is back in the winners’ enclosure, and he looks set to give his owners plenty of enjoyable days out over the winter campaign.
