With several runners in action across different tracks over the weekend, we’ve put together a round-up of their performances, including any interesting trainer and jockey comments.

Brodie’s Boy and Lightningboltzoom lined up in the same race on Saturday 7th February. Both raced prominently and took the lead turning for home, but were unable to sustain their efforts in the straight as those sitting just off the pace came through to contest the finish. Brodie’s Boy finished fifth, with Lightningboltzoom behind in seventh.
Hollie Doyle, who rode Lightningboltzoom, felt he was doing a little too much through the race and never quite settled into a rhythm, which may have affected how he finished. A tongue tie could be considered next time to help him see his race out more strongly.
Tony Carroll, trainer of Brodie’s Boy, felt that making the running did not play to his strengths and will now look at alternative options at Wolverhampton and Kempton.

(Class 6) (0-65, 3yo) 1m
Bosh Soldier made her stable debut for Tony Carroll at Chelmsford on Sunday 8th February, at an additional fixture added by the BHA following weather disruption to the jumps programme. She broke well and raced prominently, travelling smoothly to the three-furlong marker. However, when asked to quicken turning for home, she was unable to pick up and kept on at the same pace to finish seventh.
Luke Morris, who rode Bosh Soldier, felt she was well positioned tactically but did not find a great deal when put under pressure. She travelled smoothly for much of the race, so dropping into a 0–55 over seven furlongs may see her to better effect.
Tony Carroll felt Bosh Soldier ran well for a long way, but admitted he was a little disappointed with her finishing effort. He suggested she may have needed the run and expects to be able to find her an easier opportunity next time.

Unknown Journey was unfortunately slowly away on Tuesday 10th February and, as a result, was unable to adopt the prominent position that saw him finish a good third at the track last time. Racing a little keenly, he remained just worse than midfield and was unable to improve his position, eventually finishing fifth while keeping on at the same pace.
Jockey Jack Doughty felt the race did not pan out as he’d hoped, with a very slow pace that did not suit Unknown Journey, who thrives off a true, honest gallop.
