Brosay went agonisingly close to winning back-to-back races, finishing just a head behind the winner at Lingfield on Thursday 9th January.
Having been raised 4lbs for his comeback win at Southwell last month, Brosay had more on his plate this time around but still managed to put in a stellar performance. Sent off as a 13/2 shot, Brosay was drawn widest of all in stall 9, which did affect race tactics. Jockey Eddie Greatrex opted to settle him towards the rear of the field in the early stages, and having been pushed out wide on the final turn his chances didn’t look great. However, he absolutely flew down the final straight and would’ve undoubtedly won the race had it been just a few yards further. Unfortunately, he just failed to catch the winner Carbine Harvester, but it was another extremely promising performance.
After the race, jockey Eddie Greatrex gave us his summary:
“The draw did help our chances today but he still ran a blinder. We were wider than I would’ve liked going around the home turn, but he stayed on strongly and I did think we were going to get up at one point. Unfortunately we just couldn’t catch the winner in time, but he’s a great horse and he should be up to winning again soon.”
Trainer Paul Attwater reported the following morning:
“He ran a cracker of a race there from a wide draw and really impressed me. He’s come out of the race well and has trotted up and eaten his breakfast this morning, so is none the worse for his efforts and we’ll look to get him back out again later this month.”
Brosay continues to impress and we’re already eagerly awaiting his next race!
