How to Get to Huntingdon Racecourse

Arriving by Car

Huntingdon Racecourse can be reached from the B1514 turn-off from the A141, a short distance from the A1 and A14 Brampton Hut Interchange.

The A14 connects with the A1, M1, M11 and M6, providing convenient access from the north, south, West Midlands and East Coast. The racecourse is approximately 20 miles north-west of Cambridge and 22 miles south of Peterborough.

Visitors should enter PE28 4NL into their sat nav and ensure their navigation system is up to date, as changes have been made to the surrounding road network.

There is plenty of free on-site parking for racegoers, accessible from the B1514 turn-off from the A141. Designated parking spaces are available close to the entrances for Blue Badge holders.

Arriving by Train

Huntingdon is the nearest railway station and is approximately 2.5 miles from the racecourse. The station is situated on the main railway line from London King’s Cross.

The previous shuttle service between Huntingdon railway station and the racecourse is not currently operating, so visitors should arrange onward transport before travelling.

Arriving by Taxi

A taxi is one of the easiest ways to travel between Huntingdon railway station and the racecourse. Visitors are advised to arrange their return journey in advance, particularly for busy fixtures.

Arriving by Air

Helicopters can land at Huntingdon Racecourse on racedays with prior permission. Visitors should contact the racecourse office on 01480 453373 to make the necessary arrangements.

Where to Get Tickets

Tickets can be purchased online before your visit. Advance booking is recommended to secure the best available price, reduce the time required to enter the racecourse and avoid disappointment at popular fixtures.

Walk-up tickets may also be available at the racecourse on the day, provided the fixture has not sold out. Payments for admission and racecourse purchases are made by card, although cash can still be used with the Tote and on-course bookmakers.

Accompanied visitors aged 17 and under receive free admission to Huntingdon Racecourse. A suitable child ticket should be added when booking the accompanying adult’s admission.

Huntingdon Racecourse provides accessible parking, wheelchair-friendly entrances, lifts, accessible viewing platforms and accessible toilets. A portable induction hearing loop is also available from the racecourse office.

Eligible visitors can apply for one complimentary admission ticket for a personal assistant. Assistance dogs are also welcome without an additional charge, although owners are advised to contact the racecourse before attending.

Huntingdon Racecourse Enclosures

Main Enclosure

Huntingdon Racecourse operates with one main enclosure, giving racegoers access to the principal racecourse facilities and viewing areas.

Visitors can watch the action from different points around the course, including areas close to the finishing line and open ditch. The enclosure also provides access to the Parade Ring, saddling boxes and Winner’s Enclosure.

A selection of bars and food outlets is available throughout the main enclosure, including Favourites Bar, which overlooks the Winner’s Enclosure.

Picnic Enclosure

The Picnic Enclosure is only available at selected family fixtures. It is located next to the track and allows visitors to enjoy their own picnics from the designated lawn or picnic area.

Visitors wishing to bring a picnic should check the information for their chosen raceday or contact the racecourse office before travelling, as the Picnic Enclosure is not open at every fixture.

Peterborough Chase Restaurant

The Peterborough Chase Restaurant is situated on the first floor of the Goodliff Stand and offers elevated views of both the racecourse and Parade Ring.

Restaurant packages can include main-enclosure admission, a racecard, a three-course meal and light afternoon tea. Tables are reserved for the day and should be booked in advance.

Private Hospitality

Private boxes are also available for visitors looking to upgrade their raceday. Packages can include private viewing areas, dining, dedicated service and convenient access to the racing action.

What to Wear

Huntingdon Racecourse does not operate a formal general dress code. Visitors are encouraged to wear comfortable clothing that is appropriate for the weather.

Many racegoers choose to dress more formally for feature meetings such as Peterborough Chase Raceday, although this is not compulsory.

Guests using the restaurants or hospitality areas are asked to dress smart-casual and avoid wearing ripped denim or trainers.

Lentons Bar

Lentons Bar is situated on the ground floor of the Goodliff Stand. Food options can include sausage rolls, Cornish pasties and cheese and onion pasties.

Hurdles Bistro

Hurdles Bistro serves a range of hot meals and also has a bar offering tea and coffee. It is located on the ground floor of the main grandstand.

Gurneys Bar

Situated beside the Parade Ring, Gurneys Bar serves hot and cold drinks alongside sandwiches, paninis and cakes. Its position provides visitors with a convenient place to watch the runners before each race.

Favourites Bar

Favourites Bar is also located beside the Parade Ring and offers indoor and outdoor seating, together with alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks.

Additional concessions, including a hog roast and outside catering units, may be available at selected feature racedays.

The racecourse operates mainly as a cashless venue. Cash can still be used when betting with the Tote or on-course bookmakers, but there are no cash machines at the racecourse.

Visitors should not normally bring their own food or drink into the main enclosure. Picnics are permitted only on selected racedays and must be consumed within the designated picnic areas. Check the information for your chosen fixture before travelling.
