On her first attempt over seven furlongs, Bosh Soldier produced an encouraging performance on 25th February.
Bosh Soldier was sent off at 66/1 against ten rivals and was relatively slowly away and was pushed along by George Wood to adopt a prominent position. She settled well and travelled nicely into the home turn three furlongs out. She ran on well to the line but got outpaced and faded into seventh.
After the race, jockey George Wood gave us his verdict on the performance:
“Really pleased, she ran a cracker there. From a wide draw, we weren’t the quickest away but we got a nice position and went an even gallop. She relaxed lovely for me but she is still a little bit weak. When she strengthens up I can see her staying a mile and running very well. She’ll enjoy it back on the grass too. She has a lovely attitude and hopefully is going the right way now.”
Trainer Tony Carroll reported following the race :
“I am very pleased with Bosh Soldier, she has stepped forward from Chelmsford and I think she’ll continue to do so. She is a big weak filly who is finding her feet. George gave her a super ride and really likes her, he thinks she can make into a nice filly which we all agree with.”
This represented a pleasing step forward from Bosh Soldier, who looks set to continue progressing with time and experience. Her owners enjoyed a fantastic evening in the Owners and Trainers at Kempton.
