Brodie’s Boy Finishes Runner-Up At Wolverhampton – Race Report

Brodie’s Boy put in a fantastic performance to finish runner-up at Wolverhampton on Monday 27th October, pulling well clear of the remainder of the field in the process.

Having been sent off as the 7/2 third favourite of the five-runner race, Brodie’s started brightly and got into a good rhythm just behind the leaders. Once entering the final straight, jockey Marco Ghiani asked Brodie for his effort, and he duly obliged, pulling clear with the eventual winner, Veraison, and just failing to catch him, going down by half a length.

After the race, jockey Marco Ghiani gave us his verdict on the performance:

I was really pleased with him and the performance. He travelled really nicely into the race without cover, and he really got going in the final furlong, but it was just a bit too late, and we couldn’t quite catch the winner. He could get further in time, but I think he just needs a truly run mile and a half race.”

Trainer Tony Carroll reported the following morning :

Brodie’s Boy is absolutely fine this morning after his race at Wolverhampton last night. I thought it was a great effort, he was closing all the way to the line, and the front two finished well clear of the remainder. I’ve no doubt we’ll have a lot of fun with him on the all-weather during the winter.

After another excellent performance, it’s surely only a matter of time before Brodie’s Boy is back in the winners’ enclosure, and we’re in agreement with Tony that we should be in store for an exciting winter campaign with him!
