Brodie’s Boy Finishes With Purpose To Take Fourth At Kempton – Race Report

After a slow start, Brodie’s Boy ran on well from off the pace on the 18th March, his first run after a wind operation.

He was sent off at 4/1 in a field of seven but was notably the slowest away from stall seven, requiring early encouragement to latch on. With little change in the order, he raced at the rear, around two lengths off the main group. The pace lifted turning into the straight three furlongs out, and although he initially appeared to be under pressure, he responded well, finishing strongly to produce an eye-catching late run into fourth. He was beaten just two lengths, with Seraphic going on to win by a length.

After the race, jockey Marco Ghiani gave us his verdict on the performance:

“He finished off really well, he was really powering home today. He jumped a touch slow from the gate and never really travelled well the first mile. He probably just fell asleep being the first one in the stalls, but he was finishing faster than anyone else.”

Trainer Tony Carroll reported following the race :

Brodie’s Boy ran a super race, very pleased with him. He hit the line really strong which was a big plus. It looks like the wind operation was a success and hopefully we can place him to win now.”

The way Brodie’s Boy finished off his race was very encouraging, and we look forward to his next run. His owners enjoyed the excellent facilities at Kempton and can look forward to many more enjoyable days out in the near future.
