Brosay Runs Another Cracker At Ascot – Race Report

Following his impressive victory over course and distance in September, Brosay ran another huge race for fourth at Ascot on Friday 3rd October.

Up against nine rivals, Brosay was sent off as the second favourite at 4/1. Breaking a little slowly from stall 4, he was held up at the rear of the field and had some work to do. Pushed along from the halfway stage, he responded with his usual game attitude. Jockey Harry Davies angled him out to the far side of the group, and the pair made good headway two furlongs from home, staying on well for fourth but never quite reaching the leaders.

After the race, jockey Harry Davies gave us his verdict on the performance:

“I had to get to work on him a little bit sooner than I would have wanted, he plugged on but definitely didn’t pick up as well as he did last time on slightly drier ground. He’s very genuine, he’s in good spirits at the minute and the team have him in a nice place. He’s still ran a blinder to finish fourth and probably produced as good a run as he did last time.”

Assistant Trainer Charlie Pike reported after the race:

“Brosay is absolutely fine after Ascot. He ran a great race to finish fourth in what was very testing conditions. He’s running off a mark of 97 now which is quite high. I’m not sure if handicapping off that mark is going to be his game now, we should probably be going up and start looking at some listed races for him. He’s fine after his run and we are happy with the result.”

This is yet another strong performance from Brosay, and we’re confident he’ll continue to deliver more memorable days for his owners in the future.
