Brosay Wins At Ascot – Race Report

Following his impressive victory at Windsor, Brosay completed a brilliant double with a stylish win in the highly competitive six-furlong handicap at Ascot on Saturday 6th September.

Up against 18 rivals, Brosay was sent off at 9/1 but was one of the slowest away from stall 8. However, jockey Harry Davies gave him a determined ride, urging him forward,  making steady progress throughout the race on the wing of the large field. The strong pace set by the leaders played into the hands of the powerful finisher, Brosay, who surged past the field in the final furlong, crossing the line a length ahead of Jubilee Walk.

After the race, jockey Harry Davies gave us his verdict on the performance:

Delighted with Brosay, he’s obviously a pretty clever horse detaching himself that first furlong. I was thinking we were out of the race , with the loose horse in front of us everything was going wrong. He’s got a lot of speed, the ground was dead so it was hard to make up ground but they went a good gallop and that’s what gave us a chance. He stays well, he felt very very genuine to me. I think he’s well-handicapped but he’s obviously quirky.”

Assistant Trainer Charlie Pike reported the following morning:

Brosay is absolutely fine this morning, we’re over the moon with him. He’s eaten up , he’s trotted up sound. We’ll make a plan from Tuesday when he gets reassessed and look where our next options are. We were really pleased with him yesterday, what a great day.”

This is yet another outstanding performance from Brosay, and we’re confident he’ll continue to deliver more memorable days for his owners in the future.
