Magic Runner A Close Third At Wolverhampton – Race Report

Magic Runner once again delivered a strong performance at her favourite venue on Friday 23rd January, finishing a narrow half-length third.

Sent off at 13/2 in a field of nine, Magic Runner broke best of all from stall eight and contested the lead before James Sullivan tucked her in along the rail in third. She travelled well and turned into the straight in fourth, just behind the leaders. As usual, she rallied gamely, but was briefly short of room two furlongs out. The eventual winner, Mr Nugget, got first run and just held off the challenges of Magic Runner and Dingwall.

After the race, jockey James Sullivan gave us his verdict on the performance:

“ I was going to sit upsides but the leader was kicking on so I thought I would get cover. She travelled into it nicely and ran another good race. I thought she was going to get there in the end, she quickened up and got within half a length but couldn’t get any closer.”

Trainer Ruth Carr reported the following morning :

“Magic Runner is fine this morning, this was another good run and she is holding her form well. She just had to sit for a couple of strides turning for home , maybe that could have been the difference.”

This was another strong performance from our filly, who, as Ruth said, is holding her form really well. Her owners enjoyed another exciting day out at the races, and we look forward to plenty more to come.
