Magic Runner Delivers Another Creditable Effort At Wolverhampton – Race Report

Once again, our filly produced an honest and determined effort at her favourite venue on Saturday 20th December, battling hard from the rear of the field to finish sixth, not beaten far.

Magic Runner was sent off at 9/2 against eleven rivals, James Sullivan tucked her in just worse than midfield, where she raced quite keenly through the early stages. There were few changes in the order until approaching the three furlong marker, when the pace increased. Magic Runner travelled well around the turn as James waited for room to challenge, and when asked for her effort she once again picked up nicely, making some headway down the centre of the track. She kept on well to the line but lacked the pace to mount a serious challenge.

After the race, jockey James Sullivan gave us his verdict on the performance:

“It was a bit messy at the start but she got into a lovely rhythm after that. She travelled well, picked up and galloped to the line. There should be more wins in her.”

Trainer Ruth Carr reported the following morning :

“It was a good enough run and hopefully she can pick another one up this winter. We’ll give her a few weeks off now as she has had a couple of quick runs recently.”

This was another good effort from Magic Runner, and she looks sure to be in the mix in future all-weather races, providing her brilliant owners with plenty more enjoyable days at the track. We look forward to seeing her back out again after a well-earned rest.
