From the unfavourable stall twelve, Magic Runner showed plenty of ability despite finishing eleventh on Saturday 25th October.
Magic Runner was sent off at 28/1 in a field of thirteen and was settled in mid-division early on. She made a striking move after four furlongs to take the lead, a bold effort that was almost essential given her difficult draw. Unfortunately, those exertions may have taken their toll, as she was headed just over a furlong from home and weakened in the closing stages.
After the race, jockey James Sullivan gave us his verdict on the performance:
“They went quite quick into the bend, I couldn’t get forward enough from the wide draw. As we got to the bend I couldn’t get in anywhere, so I was three wide round the bend. The only place to get in was up near the front. I just used too much petrol and she got tired then as we entered the straight. Hopefully she will get a better draw next time.”
Trainer Ruth Carr reported the following morning :
“What can we say about last night, not much really we’ll just have to write that one off. Hopefully we will come down a few pounds for our troubles and we can go again, there’s a race coming up reasonably soon at Wolverhampton. Hopefully we can get a decent draw and put a line through last night.”
Things didn’t go Magic Runner’s way once again, but she has shown clear signs of ability. We are confident she’ll be back on the podium before long. We look forward to seeing her back on the track soon!
