Our filly showed a fantastic attitude to finish a mightily close third over 1 mile 1½f on the 4th November.
Magic Runner was sent off at 16/1 in a field of twelve. Breaking well from stall five under Hector Crouch, she adopted a prominent position and tracked the leaders. She was pushed along turning in and mounted a challenge down the centre of the track, making good headway from a furlong out. She battled gamely to the line and was only beaten a neck into third, with Mr Nugget winning the race.
After the race, jockey Hector Crouch gave us his verdict on the performance:
“She has run a cracker in a blanket finish. We had to wait for a run at the top of the straight. She has responded very well for pressure. They are hard races to win, very competitive.”
Trainer Ruth Carr reported the following morning :
“Delighted with the run yesterday, only a length covered the first five. Another day she would have been winning. She’s trotting nice and happy this morning.”
This was another brilliant performance from Magic at Wolverhampton, signalling she is going to be very competitive over the winter and won’t be long in getting her head infront!
