A Path To Ronda put in a huge performance to finish fourth in Listed company at Sandown on Saturday, doing best of those that raced towards the rear of the field.
Sent off as an 8/1 shot, Ronda was held up throughout the majority of the race, before jockey Gavin Sheehan asked her for her effort with around four furlongs to go. She duly responded, passing rivals along the home straight despite hanging to her right. She failed to catch the front three, who were up with the pace throughout, but it was still a great performance for her to run so well in Listed company.
After the race, jockey Gavin Sheehan gave us his verdict on the performance:
“I think it was a brilliant run from her. There was a strong pace but she relaxed and got into a good rhythm. She had a little stumble which knocked her confidence a bit and she did well to recover from that. What I did love about her was how she responded when I swung her out and asked for her effort.”
Trainer Jamie Snowden reported the following morning:
“I felt she ran a belter on Saturday – it was always going to be a tough race in Listed company, but I felt she certainly proved she’s up to that level. A couple of things went against her – obviously the stumble didn’t help, and she also hung right under pressure up the straight. She’s definitely an exciting horse to look forward to.”
This was an excellent performance from A Path To Ronda, who looks to be improving with each run – we can’t wait to see her over hurdles already next season!
