Brosay Powers Home to Claim Racing League Success – Race Report

Brosay kept on resolutely to land the spoils in the valuable Racing League Race 25 Handicap at Windsor on Thursday 14th August, representing the Racing Club and Team Yorkshire.

Lining up in a typically competitive 12-runner field over six furlongs, Brosay was overlooked by the market at 14/1. Slowly away, he was rousted along early by Joanna Mason to find a position towards the rear of the field. Two furlongs out, Brosay found room to challenge down the centre of the track and responded well for pressure , rallying gamely under a powerful ride from Joanna . Finishing strongly, he got up to win by a length and a quarter, beating team Scotland’s Zoulu Chief.

After the race, jockey Joanna Mason gave her verdict on the performance:

“What a brilliant performance from a fantastic horse! He was a bit slow to start, but they went a good pace early on, and we’ve just held our own in the middle of the track through the early stages. I gave him a clear run, and once I asked him for his effort, he absolutely flew home and won nicely in the end.”

Trainer Paul Attwater reported the following morning:

“He’s come out of the race absolutely fine, and I was delighted with that performance last night. He’s been knocking on the door of late and hasn’t had much luck in his last couple of races, but he showed everyone what he’s capable of last night, and I was thrilled for his owners. I expect we will likely get him back out fairly soon, with a race at York’s Ebor meeting under consideration.”

This was a career-best display from Brosay, with plenty to look forward to for all involved!
