Dayzee Race Report – 20/01/24

Racing Club’s first VIP Syndicate horse Dayzee gave another good account of herself with her most recent performance, finishing third in the £100,000 Winter Oaks Derby at Lingfield.

After her promising run on stable debut in December that saw her finish a short head behind the winner, we were slightly surprised to see her as the 33/1 outsider. Despite stepping up in grade, she proved us right, with a spirited effort that saw her put in a huge effort to land place money for connections.

She stayed in touch with the leaders throughout and despite looking outpaced when asked for her effort, she kept on well in the final stages to finish third. Notably, the two who finished ahead were the favourite and second favourite too, and both were held up towards the rear for most of the race. Dayzee did best of those to be up with the leaders, and we’re extremely pleased with her effort!

You can re-watch the race here:

Trainer Barry Brennan stated “She’s come out of the race really well, it was a great run from her and I’m delighted with her. We’ll look again probably in about a month’s time for her next race”.

Racing Club co-founder Richard Jaques was equally impressed with Dayzee’s performance, stating “That was a great run in what was a hot race to be in. She didn’t look out of place and we’ve no doubt she will continue to improve and hopefully land one of these big races in the not too distant future”.
