As the syndicate term for Handlethekettle draws to a close and the option to renew or buy a discounted share become available, it’s the perfect time to reflect on what has already been a hugely impressive career. A true star for Racing Club, Handlethekettle has delivered four fantastic victories under the expert training of Jamie Snowden.
He made an immediate impact, winning on debut in a maiden hurdle at Worcester by a length. Looking back now, this performance is made even more special as four future winners finished behind him. He was then pitched into top company in the Grade 2 Persian War Novices’ Hurdle, where, despite a few jumping errors, he ran a creditable race to finish fifth.
Returning in April, he cruised to a dominant six-length victory at Taunton, comfortably dispatching a heavily odds-on favourite who had won twice and placed twice previously. Though he found chasing at Ffos Las not to his liking, he bounced back in style at Worcester, winning by five lengths against high quality opposition. In behind that day in second and third were a three-time and an eight-time winner.
Most recently, in July, he secured another success at Worcester, this time in a competitive Class 2 Handicap, edging out a talented five-time winning mare by half a length.
As he recovers from a minor setback, the plan is to have him back on track in the spring . There is certainly plenty to look forward to with this classy gelding.
