Racing Club Insider Tips – Saturday 11th October

The National Hunt season is officially underway, and we couldn’t be more excited! This weekend promises fantastic action across both codes, with Chepstow hosting the inaugural Welsh Racing Festival and Newmarket presenting a stellar card featuring multiple Group races along with the ever-competitive Cesarewitch Heritage Handicap. Our Insider has a jumps double to play and is pretty sweet on their chances.

1:35 Chepstow – AMMES (7/4 generally)

Juvenile hurdles are always fascinating as horses attempt to transfer their ability from the flat into a new discipline, and this race brings together several intriguing contenders from top yards. Treasure Planet and Ice Jet are both of interest, as is Bouboule, who already has experience over obstacles. However, the standout prospect is James Owen’s AMMES, who made a highly impressive hurdles debut at Sedgefield. He travelled smoothly, jumped fluently for a first-time hurdler, and won with the minimum of fuss. That race may not have been the strongest, but he could hardly have been more convincing, and his flat form suggests there is plenty more to come. He finished an excellent sixth of nineteen in the King George V Stakes at Royal Ascot and was second in a Class 3 handicap at Glorious Goodwood, which is comfortably the best flat form on offer here. He should enjoy the ground at Chepstow and once again has the champion jockey on board.I expect him to continue his progression over hurdles and to win this race with a fair degree of comfort.

2:30 Hexham – IMPERFECTLYPERFECT (5/4 generally)

At Vimeiro has won at Cartmel this summer and has race fitness on his side. However, the one they all have to beat here is the Russell & Scudamore trained IMPERFECTLYPERFECT. This son of Walk In The Park won a bumper here by six lengths in impressive fashion and finished third on debut with the form being franked. He looks a very promising hurdler for this season and could prove difficult to beat with a decent round of jumping for a hard with a good record here.

SATURDAY SELECTIONS

1:35 Chepstow – AMMES (5/2 generally)

2:30 Hexham – IMPERFECTLYPERFECT (13/8 generally)

*Odds correct at time of posting – 4:45pm Friday 10th October
