Racing Club Insider Tips – Saturday 12th September

Unfortunately, the crossbar was struck again last week as At The Oche was unable to capitalise on a drop in class, but we did pick up some place money with Saucats at 16/1. We have a cracking day of racing to enjoy, with top-class action on both sides of the Irish Sea, headlined by the final Classic of the season on Town Moor, the 250th running of the St Leger. The big race itself looks one to sit out from a punting perspective and enjoy what should be an interesting renewal.

13:30 Chester – DUBAI HONOUR (8/11 Generally)

DUBAI HONOUR is a deservedly strong favourite and looks the one they all have to beat. The multiple Group 1 winner returned from a 126-day break with a solid third in the Geoffrey Freer at Newbury, finishing less than two lengths behind the winner despite conditions and the way the race unfolded not being ideal. That should have put him spot on for this, and the drop back to Listed company represents a significant ease in grade. He also has course form, having finished second here as a two-year-old, while William Haggas won this race last year with fellow veteran Hamish. As the clear top-rated horse in the field, he is very well treated at the weights and, if running anywhere near his best, he should be winning this.

15:55 Leopardstown – BLUE BOLT (11/10 Generally)

It looks a strong renewal of the Matron Stakes, but BLUE BOLT gets the vote. She has won all four starts this season and has developed into one of Europe’s leading milers and probably the leading filly around, with Group 1 victories in the Falmouth Stakes and Prix Rothschild. Precise was behind her on both occasions, and she still managed to confirm that form at Deauville last time despite perhaps not being at her very best. This has reportedly been on the agenda for some time, conditions should be in her favour and there could still be more to come. She can maintain her unbeaten record for the season.
