Redbud Sixteen Finishes Runner-Up At Ffos Las – Race Report

Redbud Sixteen showed considerable improvement on just her second start to finish runner-up at Ffos Las on Friday 29th August, finishing just a neck behind the winner, who was receiving 13lbs from our runner.

Having broken well from the stalls, jockey Kieran O’Neill had her settled towards the front of the field, sitting just behind the front-runner Lady Margaret. Once they reached the final three furlongs, Kieran asked her for her effort and she duly obliged, picking up nicely to take the lead as they entered the final couple of furlongs. It was only in the final stages that she got headed, and despite keeping on strongly, she failed to get her head back in front. She eventually finished a neck behind the eventual winner Heed, and a length ahead of Ralph Beckett’s Frankel filly Participle, who was odds-on favourite for the race.

After the race, jockey Kieran O’Neill gave us his verdict on the performance:

“She really enjoyed the ground out there today, and we were giving the winner a lot of weight, so that was a vastly improved performance compared to her debut. She should come on for the run and she’s a very honest horse, so I think she should have a nice future ahead.”

Trainer Paul Attwater reported the following morning:

“I was really pleased with her performance yesterday, I thought she ran an absolute cracker. We were just unlucky to bump into one who we were giving almost a stone in weight to. We’ll give her an easy time of things next week, before deciding on a plan for her next race.”

With this just being her second race, we cannot wait to see what the future holds for Redbud Sixteen, and fingers crossed it shouldn’t be too much longer until we see her in action again!
