Tiny Rebel put in another encouraging performance on just his second race of his career, running with plenty of promise before tiring in the latter stages at Lingfield on Tuesday.
Having been sent off as the 150/1 outsider, the bookies weren’t giving him much chance, but he broke well out of the stalls and took an early lead. Jockey Trevor Whelen got him into a nice rhythm and after the first furlong had him just in behind the leaders, where he stayed until the pace started to quicken. With roughly a furlong to go, Tiny began to tire and his jockey gave him an easy time of things in the final stages to eventually finish 8th.
Trainer Paul Attwater reported the following morning:
“He’s trotted up sound and well this morning, and ate up all his breakfast. I was pleased with the performance yesterday, although the finishing position was slightly disappointing. Moving forward, he will have one more race before he gets his handicap mark, so we will likely keep him at a mile for his next race and let him get his mark. He seemed to enjoy his day out and I’m sure we’re going to enjoy plenty of fun days out with him moving forward.”
With two runs under his belt, he is now just one race away from receiving his handicap mark. Once he has that, we’ll be all set for an exciting campaign for him moving forward!
