Andrew Balding is one of the most well-known trainers in horse racing, winning numerous Group 1 races, including three Classic wins. Based at the historic Kingsclere Stables in Berkshire, Andrew has some of the best facilities in the country in his private training grounds, allowing him to train over 100 horses at the highest level.Â
Andrew is part of the Balding family, who have a rich history in Horse Racing. His father Ian Balding was a classic-winning trainer, whilst his uncle Toby Balding was a leading National Hunt trainer, being one of the few trainers to have won the ‘big three’ British jump races – the Grand National, Cheltenham Gold Cup and Champion Hurdle. His sister Clare Balding is one of the most well-known horse racing presenters on TV, whilst his grandfather was a former trainer to Queen Elizabeth II. It’s safe to say that training is certainly in his blood!Â
Andrew took over Park Manor Stables in Kingsclere in 2003, when his father Ian retired. He started with a bang, winning the 2003 Epsom Oaks with Casual Look. He’s had numerous domestic and international Group winners since then, with notable winners including 2,000 Guineas winners Kameko (2020) and Chaldean (2023), four-time Group 1 winner Alcohol Free and four-time Group winner and staying star Coltrane.Â
Away from football, Andrew enjoys watching Southampton FC, where he is a season ticket holder, and spending time with his wife Anna-Lisa and his three children.
