George Boughey is widely renowned as one of the leading flat trainers in the country, having sent out over 400 winners, having saddled his first winner in 2019. Despite his young age in comparison to the majority of other flat trainers, he is already a classic-winning trainer, having won the 1,000 Guineas with Cachet in 2022.
Prior to taking his trainer’s licence out at the tender age of 27, George picked up plenty of experience working in the industry, working within the bloodstock sector, working for both Gai Waterhouse and Lloyd Williams in Australia, before returning to Newmarket to work for Hugo Palmer as his assistant trainer.
Having initially started out with just four horses in his yard, he has gone from strength to strength and has had multiple winners across all levels, notably winning the 1,000 Guineas in 2022 with Cachet, making all to beat fellow Group 1 winners Prosperous Voyage and Tuesday in a thrilling race. Other notable horses George has trained include the likes of Via Sistina (Group 1 winner), Oscula (Group 3 winner), Believing (Group 2 winner) and Soprano (Group 3 winner).
George has since moved to Craven House Stables, a state-of-the-art training facility in Newmarket that further cements his ambitions to become one of the greatest flat trainers in the country.
We’re thrilled to have George Boughey join our roster of trainers and look forward to enjoying plenty of big days at the racecourse with him, along with visiting his stables at ‘Racing Headquarters’ Newmarket.
