Racing Club Insider Tips – Saturday 4th April

We’ve got a nice mix of flat and jumps racing this weekend, with eight cards to get stuck into. The highlight is Fairyhouse, which hosts its three day Easter Festival, promising some top class action. On Sunday, I wouldn’t put anyone off having an each way play on the brilliant A Path To Ronda in the Grade 1 Honeysuckle Mares’ Novice Hurdle. We were on the mark with a winner at Stratford last weekend, so hopefully we can keep that momentum rolling.

14:05 Fairyhouse – SALSINHA (7/4 Generally)

Henry de Bromhead’s mare made a big impression when winning a Cork bumper by nine lengths, before following up with a strong effort on her second start over hurdles, finishing a close fourth at Navan, just a length and a quarter behind Cool Native, who she meets again here.

She has continued to progress since, most notably when finishing a solid third in a Listed race at Thurles on her latest outing, which sets the standard here. It looks only a matter of time before she sheds her maiden tag, and today could be the day. With her upward trajectory and a track likely to suit, she can improve past that Navan rival, and a repeat or any further improvement on her latest effort should see her go very close.

14:30 Musselburgh – AL QAREEM (1/1 Generally)

The seven-year-old has been a star for Karl Burke and his owners and is, without question, the best horse in the third race at the Scottish track. He does not have a flawless record fresh, but he has performed creditably on several occasions after a break, and I would expect him to have enough to make a winning seasonal debut.

He enjoys making the running, which is always a positive for punters, and he has an admirable attitude. Dropping in both trip and grade, he should be well placed to land this Listed contest, having already proven himself at this level as well as in Group 3 company last season.
