It has been a mixed couple of weeks for our Flat team, with some encouraging performances alongside a few disappointing results. Sax Avoidance continued her excellent run of form with another fine effort at Kempton, Lord d’Or produced another huge performance in a valuable handicap, while Brosay has been showing signs of a return to his best.
Denby’s Dream was in action at Bath on 29th September, where she raced prominently and helped set a strong pace. However, the ground was quicker than ideal and she weakened to finish eleventh. Hopefully, she can return to form when conditions are more suitable.
Magic Runner was also in action on 29th September, finishing a disappointing ninth at Wolverhampton despite appearing to have plenty in her favour. She has come out of the race well, and we are confident trainer Ruth Carr can get her back to her best.

Denby’s Dream looking well at Bath
Our progressive VIP filly Sax Avoidance was bidding for her third consecutive victory at Kempton on 5th October. Once again adopting her usual front-running tactics under Kieren Fox, she battled on gamely when challenged but was narrowly denied, finishing second by just half a length. It was another cracking effort, and she looks capable of adding to her tally.
Lucky Luna lined up in the same race, stepping up to almost a mile and three furlongs. Unfortunately, she was unable to build on her encouraging recent efforts and finished ninth. She reportedly made a noise during the race, so we will have her wind checked to see whether there is an underlying issue.

Sax Avoidance and Kat at Kempton
Lord d’Or produced another cracking effort in a valuable handicap at Newmarket, narrowly losing out to a smart Godolphin-owned rival for the second time this season. Under a superb ride from Nicola Currie, he finished just three-quarters of a length behind the winner, with the front pair pulling an impressive six and a half lengths clear of the rest. It was another excellent performance, and he looks capable of making his mark in more valuable handicaps.
Brosay continued his return to form with another encouraging effort at Goodwood on 11th October. Under Rossa Ryan, he produced his trademark strong finish to take third in a competitive handicap, beaten just over three lengths. He certainly appears to have turned a corner after a difficult spell, and hopefully it won’t be long before he gets his head back in front.
