Redbud Sixteen Quiet On Seasonal Return At Kempton – Race Report

Redbud Sixteen was unable to land a blow on her return to action on Monday 6th April.

Our filly, priced at 33/1, broke well from stall six and was settled towards the rear of the field by Eddy Greatrex. She travelled smoothly through the contest and, approaching the three-furlong marker, was asked to make her move. She responded well initially but was unable to sustain her effort and met with slight interference. She kept on at one pace thereafter to finish eighth of nine and should come on for the run, with improvement expected next time over a longer trip.

After the race, jockey Eddy Greatrex gave us his verdict on the performance:

“She jumped good and was able to relax and find a rhythm so I was happy. They just quickened away from her and she got a little lost when she had nothing to race with. I wasn’t hard on her, it was a nice start back and she feels like she still possesses the ability she had last year. We can build on that today and ride her more positively next time.”

Assistant trainer Charlie Pike reported the following morning:

“She’s had a nice healthy blow which should bring her on fitness-wise. She is fine this morning, has trotted up sound and eaten well. I am looking at Lingfield on the 20th over a mile and a quarter, which should suit her very well.”

It was great to see Redbud Sixteen back on the racecourse and we look forward to her next outing with this run under her belt. She showed clear ability last season and we are excited to see her build on that in the months ahead.
