There are eight fixtures to look forward to today, with six flat meetings and two competitive jumps cards on the schedule. The feature race of the day is the valuable Weatherbys Super Sprint Stakes at Newbury, where Racing Club’s promising gelding From Me To You carries top weight for four-time winner Richard Hannon.
14:05 Ripon – WARBY (1/1 Generally)
This looks an interesting little novice, and while all five runners have something to recommend them, I do think the market has it right with WARBY at the head of affairs. She made a promising debut when runner-up at Catterick before taking a clear step forward earlier this month, making all to score comfortably by two lengths at the same track. She travelled strongly throughout, showed a smart turn of foot when asked to quicken and was value for more than the winning margin, with David Allan never having to get serious. She relished the quick ground that day and gets that again here.
The form of that victory looks decent with the beaten favourite having finished second in a useful Newbury novice, with both a previous winner and a subsequent winner behind her in that race. Receiving 8lb from her main rival and with further progress highly likely, Tim Easterby’s filly can gain a second career success.
14:15 Curragh – ONE LOOK (1/1 Generally)
Paddy Twomey’s ONE LOOK is the one they all have to beat in this Group 3. Last year’s winner returns to a track where she has an outstanding record and arrives on the back of an excellent second to Estrange in the Group 1 Pretty Polly Stakes over this course and distance on good to firm ground. That piece of form is comfortably the strongest on offer, and If she produces a similar effort, she’ll take plenty of beating.
