Jukebox King is a striking bay gelding in training with Cheltenham Festival-winning joint trainers Kim Bailey and Mat Nicholls in the Cotswolds. With an envious pedigree and having already won a point-to-point race in Ireland, we have high hopes for Jukebox King, as he embarks on his novice hurdling campaign. He has made a pleasing start to life over hurdles with three eye catching fourth placed finishes, before taking a big step forward on his second handicap start at Wincanton. He jumped beautifully and stayed on well for second, pulling two and a quarter lengths clear of the remainder, form that has worked out extremely well.
The six-year-old was sired by Jukebox Jury, who was a Group 1 winner and a multiple Group 2 winner in his racing career, before being sent to stud in 2013. He’s been a prolific sire of classy horses, including Il Etait Temps (multiple Grade 1 winner), Farclas (Grade 1 winner) and Bambino Fever (Grade 1 winner). Jukebox Jury’s sire Montjeu was a six-time Group 1 winner and was also the sire of William Mullins’ Hurricane Fly, who won an incredible 22 Grade 1 races. With all this in mind, there’s plenty to get excited about with Jukebox King’s pedigree!
“Jukebox King is a good-looking 5yo son of Jukebox Jury, a very sought-after stallion who is getting plenty of winners. We saw his point-to-point win at Ballycrystal and we were both impressed with the way he jumped and travelled. He showed a very willing attitude and we were delighted to get him at the sales. He’s a very straightforward horse who jumps well, and we are really looking forward to his hurdling career, but more importantly his future as a chaser.” Joint-Trainer Mat Nicholls.
“He jumps for fun and is going to make a lovely chaser. I can’t tell you how excited I am for next season with him over fences. Joint-Trainer Kim Bailey.
