From Me To You Shows Promise At Leicester And Kempton – Race Reports

Following his Newbury debut, From Me To You has taken notable steps forward in two quick subsequent starts at Leicester on the 25th April and Kempton on the 4th May.

At Leicester, From Me To You was sent off at 8/1 under Joe Leavy and again showed his inexperience, racing greenly in the early stages at the rear of the field. He made good headway on the far side, travelling on the wing, but appeared to get slightly outpaced. He finished seventh of twelve, beaten just three and a half lengths, marking clear progress from his debut.

Just over a week later at Kempton, From Me To You was sent off at 11/1 under John Fahy. Slowly away, he was forced to race at the rear of the nine-runner field, around eight lengths off the leaders. Switched left from this challenging position, he made encouraging headway and finished off nicely for sixth, with the first two home having enjoyed prominent positions throughout.

After the Leicester race, jockey Joe Leavy gave us his verdict:

“He has performed much better today, it wasn’t ideal from that draw. With a nicer draw I could’ve got in amongst them better. Maybe he isn’t as quick as we thought and I wouldn’t be afraid to step him up to six. He ran on to the line well after being outpaced throughout. I think he’ll become a really nice horse but mentally he is just a bit behind. I think being gelded will really help him.”

After the Kempton race, jockey John Fahy gave us his verdict:

“He ran well to be honest, but with that being said, he’s not quite focusing on the job. He has walked out of the stalls and hasn’t really listened to me at any point. He has stayed on well up the straight. He probably needs gelding because he’s a fine big handsome horse that needs to focus.”

Trainer Richard Hannon reported after the Kempton race :

“He has run much better today and behaved much better. He might actually want seven furlongs. We can get him home and have him gelded to help him concentrate better. We can then go for valuable nurseries. Every run he is getting better and when we get him back from being gelded we will be operational.”

It is pleasing to see From Me To You progressing with each run, and we look forward to seeing him back on the racecourse after being gelded. This should bring out the best in him and help him become very competitive in some valuable races this season, into next year, and in the future.
