Jukebox King Impresses on Debut at Hereford – Race Report

Our son of Jukebox Jury made a really pleasing start on Wednesday 10th December in the third race on Hereford’s card, the maiden hurdle over two miles, three and a half furlongs. He is expected to improve and learn plenty from this experience and looks to have a bright future.

Jukebox King faced ten rivals and was well supported at 7/2. He raced prominently, travelling smoothly and comfortably throughout, and his immaculate jumping was a standout feature. As the race unfolded, the front four pulled clear, and although our three-mile point winner was briefly outpaced by race fit rivals, he stayed on to finish a very respectable fourth, thirty four lengths clear of fifth.

After the race, jockey Jonathon Burke gave us his verdict on the performance:

Really happy with that, he jumped and travelled great. I would give him the opportunity to run over this trip again on a more galloping track then think about three miles. He is going to be a cracking chaser.

Joint Trainer Kim Bailey reported following the race :

“Jukebox King ran a very solid race to finish fourth in what looked a competitive contest on paper. The first three appear to be good horses, and we won’t be far behind them in time. He’s only just beginning to come to himself, and it was very pleasing to see him jump and travel so well. Johnny Burke, who rode him, was delighted.

This was an excellent starting point for Jukebox King, and we’re very excited to watch him progress through what should be a successful career that brings plenty of enjoyment to all his owners.
