It was a landmark moment for Racing Club co-founder Gary Gillies last month as he celebrated his first ever Royal Ascot winner — with Quai De Bethune storming home in style to take victory at the world’s most prestigious flat racing meeting.
The win marks a significant milestone for Gillies, whose passion for racing and deep-rooted involvement in syndicate ownership continues to grow alongside Racing Club’s rapid rise. Speaking after the win, Gary expressed his pride and gratitude:
“It’s every owner’s dream to have a Royal Ascot winner — and to do it with a horse like Quai De Bethune was incredibly special. It’s a day I’ll never forget.” (Racing Club co-founder Gary Gillies)
While Racing Club opens the door to racehorse ownership for hundreds of members, Gary has always remained heavily invested himself — quite literally — in several of the Club’s most exciting prospects. He retains a majority 51% share in Lord d’Or, the beautifully bred son of Palace Pier now in training with Andrew Balding. Gary also holds 50% shares in A Path To Ronda and 25% shares in Rory’s Gold, showing his strong belief in their potential and his long-term commitment to Racing Club’s success — both on and off the track.
His involvement is a strong vote of confidence in the horses, trainers, and model that Racing Club stands for, and it’s a sentiment shared by the fast-growing community of owners across the UK and Ireland.
With big plans ahead, including more exciting runners and stable visits throughout the summer, Gillies’ Royal Ascot triumph is just the beginning of what promises to be a hugely exciting chapter in the Racing Club journey.
