Lord d’Or is a striking colt with the presence, movement, and attitude of a future star. He’s the type of horse that really catches the eye, athletic, balanced, and full of class. He instantly impressed everyone with his temperament and physical development. It is clear he has all the attributes needed to thrive on the track. Trained by Andrew Balding at the prestigious Kingsclere Stables, he’s in expert hands, and the early signs suggest he could be something special.
Lord d’Or has made an encouraging start to his career. Despite a poor draw, he stayed on strongly to finish sixth on debut at Kempton before taking a marked step forward on his second outing at York, where he finished powerfully to claim second in a competitive Class 2 novice stakes. He looks a progressive and talented individual with the potential to win plenty of races.
Lord d’Or boasts an outstanding pedigree that combines elite performance with proven early potential. He’s by the world champion miler Palace Pier, a five-time Group 1 winner whose glittering career included victories in the St James’s Palace Stakes and Queen Anne Stakes at Royal Ascot, the Lockinge Stakes at Newbury, and back-to-back wins in the Jacques Le Marois at Deauville. Although Palace Pier is still in the early stages of his stallion career, he’s already off the mark with his first winner, hitting the ground faster than even his own sire, Kingman.
On the dam side, La Saldana brings black type quality to the page. A Group 3 winner in Germany, she won two of her five starts and has already produced multiple winners. With this kind of depth in his bloodlines and a striking presence to match, Lord d’Or is a hugely exciting prospect — and we can’t wait to see what he delivers on the racecourse.
“He looks a lovely horse in every way. He’s got a good action, a great temperament and a bit of star quality about him, so I’m really excited about his future.” Trainer Andrew Balding.
We’re confident that Lord d’Or has a bright future ahead, and he couldn’t be in better hands with one of Britain’s most respected trainers.
