Love You Millions showed further promise at Brighton over 5 1/2 furlongs on Thursday 16th October.
Love You Millions was sent off at 33/1 against six rivals. Unfortunately she reared at the start and was slowly away, spoiling any chance of being competitive. Once again she showed good speed and made some headway along the stands side but could never get involved from her position and weakened around two furlongs out to finish sixth.
After the race, jockey William Cox gave us his verdict on the performance:
“She was very well behaved going down to the start, we went down early and she was lovely and relaxed not getting buzzed up. She was good going into the stalls. She was standing up a little bit, not bad rearing but getting up the front of the stalls, we had a long hold. As the stalls opened she’s on her back legs, head in the air and missed the break. It’s just one of those things, hopefully it won’t happen again. We were in there a long time. She has actually relaxed and travelled into the race quite nicely. She has probably only been beaten what she forfeited at the start and actually finished off the race. I think five and a half furlongs is fine for her, she’s bred for further but the type of horse she is I don’t think she would relax over further. She is probably due a break, she’s going in her coat and she’s hard on herself, she tries to do everything in a rush and it’s just taking its toll a bit now.”
Assistant Trainer Charlie Pike reported the following morning:
“She is absolutely fine after the race, very unfortunate she has just stood up as the gates have opened so our race was kind of over before it started. I don’t think she has run a bad race, the lengths she lost early on were what she was beaten by. If she’d have jumped and gone with them she probably would have been bang up there.”
Love You Millions once again displayed an impressive turn of foot, and when she breaks well, we fully expect her to be right in the mix at the business end of her races. Her owners enjoyed another fantastic day at the track and there are plenty more to look forward to!
