Cheltenham returns with the Showcase Meeting, bringing plenty of exciting betting opportunities. There is also some quality flat racing to enjoy as well on another action packed Saturday! Our Insider has picked out two bets, one from Doncaster and the other from jumps HQ.
1:30 Doncaster – TRILBY (5/1 generally)
In a competitive handicap, TRILBY has as strong a claim as any. The ground is likely to be testing, but Sam England’s gelding boasts an excellent record on soft or heavy going. In nine starts on similar ground, he’s finished first or second on five occasions. He arrives in consistent form, having bumped into an improver last time out and ran very well with the winner having the favoured stands side. With bottom weight and a favourable draw, he looks poised to run a big race.
4:05 Cheltenham – INTENSE APPROACH (9/4 generally)
INTENSE APPROACH has some strong hurdles form, notably when bolting up at this meeting last year. He made an impressive start to his chasing career at Galway over 2m6f, beating several more experienced rivals, and should have no problem with the extra distance here, having already won over a similar trip over hurdles. He may not develop into a top-class chaser, but with the benefit of that solid chase debut under his belt, he should be capable of accounting for these rivals.
