As always, there’s some mouthwatering action to look forward to in the days ahead as we enter one of the final weekends of the flat season. Our Insider is eager to keep the momentum going after highlighting True Love at 7/2 last week, a tip that landed at a starting price of 2/1.
4:10 Ascot – VENTURE CAPITAL (12/1 generally)
Venture Capital has shown a clear liking for Ascot and is an each-way suggestion here, in what is a fiercely competitive contest. His effort in the Portland at Doncaster can easily be forgiven after he dipped and veered right at the start, leaving him with no chance to get involved, though he still wasn’t disgraced in finishing twelfth. He has raced three times here and has never been out of the money. Most recently, he ran a fine race to finish a close third in the Shergar Cup Dash in August, and a repeat of that performance would put him in the mix once again.
6:30 Wolverhampton – REVELANCE (9/4 generally)
Relevance comes here in outstanding form, with two wins and two seconds from her last four outings. Her narrow three-quarter-length defeat at York reads particularly well in the context of this race, as it came in stronger Class 3 company. Dropping back in grade, she looks to hold a strong chance of returning to winning ways. At York, she showed a gritty attitude, seemingly in trouble a few furlongs out, yet rallying to finish powerfully down the centre of the track. She hit the line with real purpose, and a repeat of that effort should see her go very close once again. Ralph Beckett’s filly should be fine on the all-weather surface having finished a close second at Kempton , behind a horse now rated 102.
