Havana Flower took another big step forward to finish a good second at Chelmsford over seven furlongs on Thursday 27th November.
Sent off at 10/1 against eight rivals, Havana Flower settled towards the rear of midfield and was a touch keen through the early stages. As the tempo lifted at the three furlong marker, she made eye-catching headway under Jack Mitchell, who angled her left to secure a clear run down the far rail. Havana Flower stayed on well to claim second place.
The well-backed Godolphin favourite Snow Light was always in a prominent position and had first run on our filly, going on to score by four and three-quarter lengths.
After the race, jockey Jack Mitchell gave us his verdict on the performance:
“It was a really good step forward again. She flew out of the gates, ended up in a nice position and finished out her race really well. ”
Trainer Roger Varian reported the following morning:
“I was delighted with how she performed and it is really nice to see a young horse progressing. She got cover early, relaxed into a rhythm. She showed greenness round the bend but she picked up in the home straight and really seemed to attack the line. She is sound and clean-limbed this morning and we can put her away now and really look forward to her for next year.”
This performance marked another solid step forward from our filly, who looks a very promising prospect for next season.
