Magic Runner continues to hold her form well with another solid effort in a competitive race at Wolverhampton on the 2nd February.
Sent off at 11/2 in a field of nine, Magic Runner broke well from a wide draw but was bumped early by Powerful Response on her inside. Taryn Langley was able to slot her in and settle towards the rear of the field. Turning for home, she was travelling strongly as several rivals came under pressure. When asked to quicken three furlongs out, she responded gamely as usual but appeared short of room as she mounted her challenge. She finished well, making late headway to take fifth, beaten just two lengths, and once again gave a very good account of herself.
After the race, jockey Taryn Langley gave us his verdict on the performance:
“From that draw she has done well to finish where she has. I have had to slot in and bide my time round the bend. I followed the favourite the whole way and tried to come out past him but I’ve had to go back inside. She has picked up well again and she is in fine form. I’m really happy with her, she has tried hard again.”
Trainer Ruth Carr reported the following morning :
“Magic Runner is fine this morning, she ran really well, they didn’t go a strong enough gallop and unfortunately from that draw we were too far back. It was another good run and she’s holding her form well.”
Once again, Magic Runner ran with plenty of credit and, with a little more luck, could have played a major role in the finish. Her owners enjoyed another great day at Wolverhampton and can look forward to plenty more to come in the near future.
