We check standard UK place terms first, then look at what a bookmaker offers beyond that: automatic extra places, adjustable each-way options, and how consistently these appear during major festivals rather than just on quiet weekdays.
Odds and Best Odds Guaranteed.
We check whether a bookmaker applies Best Odds Guaranteed on UK and Irish racing, and how competitive its starting prices are compared with the rest of the market.
Payout reliability and speed.
We look at how quickly verified withdrawals are processed by payment method, and whether a bookmaker has a track record of settling bets fairly and on time.
App and streaming quality.
We test whether live streaming is genuinely accessible, what it takes to unlock it, and whether the app covers racing as well as it covers football.
Licensing and account safety.
Every bookmaker we list holds a current UK Gambling Commission licence, which we confirm directly against the public register, not through a third party.
How the star rating works
A rating out of 5 is our editorial judgment based on the criteria above, not an average of user reviews or a paid placement. Two bookmakers with similar strengths can still receive different scores if one offers a genuine edge, like an extra racing feature or a lower minimum stake.
How often we update this
Ratings are reviewed quarterly at minimum. Welcome offers and licence details are checked weekly, since these change far more often than a bookmaker’s underlying features. Every review carries a visible “last updated” date, so you always know how current the information is.
