Solid Fourth For Jukebox King At Warwick – Race Report

Jukebox King made a really pleasing handicap debut at Warwick on Sunday 8th March, in a competitive nine runner contest.

Jukebox King was sent off at 11/2 under Tom Bellamy and raced a little keenly towards the rear of a tightly packed field. He travelled well throughout and showed his usual slick jumping. He made some eye catching headway down the back straight after jumping the fourth last.As the tempo increased, Tom Bellamy had to push him along to keep in touch with the leading group. He kept on well in the straight but was unable to quite bridge the gap to the leaders, finishing a good fourth and beaten only four and a half lengths in total.

After the race, jockey Tom Bellamy gave us his verdict on the performance:

Three miles and a fence we will see the best of him, but for now I think he is still quite weak and I wouldn’t go any further for now. Our final furlong was the weakest. He will keep learning and building, we are going in the right direction. ”

Joint Trainer Kim Bailey reported the following day :

“It was a good run at Warwick yesterday. He is improving and will make a fantastic chaser next season and on the way there should definitely win a hurdle race this season before he goes out to grass. I think he’s a really exciting horse for next season. It was great to see so many of you there yesterday those who won the ballot and those who paid to get in for the day’s racing.”

This was another encouraging step forward from Jukebox King, who looks a horse that will continue to improve and is certainly capable of winning races. He also looks a lovely prospect for fences in the future. It was another great day at Warwick and we can look forward to many more.
