Dunstan is an exciting four-year-old gelding who won four races in 2024, and running with plenty of credit in his other races. Having suffered a serious injury in February 2024, the decision was made to retire Dunstan.
After making an eye-catching debut, he hit the crossbar in all but one of his next five races, with the only other defeat coming on unsuitably soft ground. The win at Southwell was an impressive one, staying on powerfully in the run-in to edge out a close contest. He then followed that up with another cosy win at Wolverhampton, before completing the hat-trick in impressive fashion at Southwell in February. Unbelievably he continued his winning streak with a fourth successive win, this time at Newcastle, where he battled gamely to the line to get his head in front when it mattered. He was then stepped up to class 3 company at Wolverhampton, where he finished runner-up in what was a competitive race. He then took a big step up in class to contest the Group 3 Classic Trial at Sandown, where he finished an admirable 7th and ran with plenty of credit, on ground softer than ideal for him. Having since put in some promising runs on turf without winning, he was looking extremely well handicapped on his turf mark, but due to a serious injury at the start of 2025, the decision was made to retire Dunstan.
He has an impressive pedigree, having been sired by multiple Group 1 winner Saxon Warrior. He holds an impressive record since being sent to stud, which includes having 10 Group horses from his first crop – they include Victoria Road (Group 1 winner) and Lumiere Rock (Group 2 winner).
