Dunstan is an exciting 3YO gelding who has won four races this year, and running with plenty of credit in his other races. Stepping up in trip to one-and-a-half miles seems to have been the making of him, and we cannot wait to watch his career continue to flourish at Newlands.Â
After making an eye-catching debut, he hit the crossbar in all but one of his next five races, with the only other defeat coming on unsuitably soft ground. The win at Southwell was an impressive one, staying on powerfully in the run-in to edge out a close contest. He then followed that up with another cosy win at Wolverhampton, before completing the hat-trick in impressive fashion at Southwell in February. Unbelievably he continued his winning streak with a fourth successive win, this time at Newcastle, where he battled gamely to the line to get his head in front when it mattered. He was then stepped up to class 3 company at Wolverhampton, where he finished runner-up in what was a competitive race. He then took a big step up in class to contest the Group 3 Classic Trial at Sandown, where he finished an admirable 7th and ran with plenty of credit, on ground softer than ideal for him. Having since put in some promising runs on turf without winning, he is now looking extremely well handicapped on his turf mark, compared to his all-weather handicap mark.Â
He has an impressive pedigree, having been sired by multiple Group 1 winner Saxon Warrior. He holds an impressive record since being sent to stud, which includes having 10 Group horses from his first crop – they include Victoria Road (Group 1 winner) and Lumiere Rock (Group 2 winner).
Dunstan is a horse we’re sure to have plenty of fun with, and the consistent colt should continue to visit the winners enclosure in the near future.Â
