Legendary Luke is an impressive bay gelding in training with Grade 1 winning trainer Jamie Snowden in Lambourn. Having run out an exceptional winner of his sole point-to-point and with an outstanding pedigree, we cannot wait to see what the future holds with Legendary Luke, as he goes novice hurdling in the 25/26 National Hunt season. On his first outing over hurdles, he showed a superb attitude, running out a game winner over an odds-on shot at Ffos Las in November. On his second start over hurdles, he followed up with a penalty win at Fontwell, again showing a determined mindset and slick jumping on soft ground. Exciting targets now beckon, potentially including the EBF Final at Sandown and even the Cheltenham Festival.
The six-year-old is from a highly regarded bloodline, sired by dual Group 1 winner Soldier Of Fortune. Since being sent to stud, he quickly made his mark as a sire of real quality, producing the likes of Mega Fortune (Grade 1 winner), Favour And Fortune (Grade 2 winner) and Slowmotion (Grade 2 winner) to name just a few. His impressive pedigree isn’t just limited to the sire’s side — there’s serious quality on the dam’s side too. His dam, Mo Bury, is a half-sister to none other than Cheltenham Gold Cup winner Native River, bringing real depth, stamina, and class to his page. With talent running through both sides of the family, Legendary Luke has all the ingredients to make a name for himself on the track and beyond.
His point-to-point win was an impressive performance, battling on well to fend off the challenge of the favourite, who has since been purchased for £100,000 at the Goffs Aintree sales. He clocked the quickest time on the card for the day – one that was eight seconds quicker than the fixture average, proving that he looks destined for a bright future.
“I think Legendary Luke is a really smart horse and a fantastic addition to our team at Folly House and Racing Club. He’s out of a sister to Cheltenham Gold Cup winner Native River — a horse known for his strong-travelling, relentless galloping style. Legendary Luke looks to have inherited that same quality. He won his point-to-point in Ireland impressively — it was the fastest time of the day, and he jumped brilliantly throughout. Eventually, he’ll go chasing, which is where his future truly lies, and I can’t wait to watch him progress over the years.” Trainer Jamie Snowden.
Legendary Luke will remain Novice Hurdle company this season – with two wins already under his belt we can’t wait to see him progress throughout the 2025/26 season.
