Spirit Of Summer was an impressive three-year-old colt, who was in training with classic-winning trainer Andrew Balding in Kingsclere. Having raced in Group 1 company as a two-year-old, he made a winning start to his three-year-old campaign, running out an impressive winner on his first start since joining Racing Club. Unfortunately, Spirit Of Summer passed away in April 2025.
His pedigree suggested he could be a racing superstar, having been sired by Mohaather, who was a four-time Group winner, including the Group 1 Sussex Stakes. His Dam, Princess Salamah, was also a winner, despite only having two races in her short career, whilst his Dam’s sire, Australia, was a classic winner and won over £2 million in prize money.
As a two-year-old, Spirit Of Summer placed three times from five races, including finishing a neck runner-up behind a well-bred Godolphin runner at Newmarket. His last race as a 2YO saw him step up to Group 1 company, where he finished an admirable fifth in testing conditions in France. His first start as a three-year old saw him win impressively at Southwell in March 2025.
“It’s a great pleasure to be training for Racing Club, particularly with a horse who had as much potential as Spirit Of Summer. He was a talented horse with a very solid profile. We trained his brother Al Shabab Storm who achieved less than Spirit Of Summer as a two-year-old and went on to win at Listed level in the UK and a Group 3 in Germany. I was hopeful Spirit Of Summer would improve in the same manner as his brother and develop into a really smart three-year-old in 2025, but unfortunately we’ll never know how good he could’ve been.” Trainer Andrew Balding.
There were a total of 4,000 shares in Spirit Of Summer, with 50% of the horse privately owners. 2,000 shares were available in Spirit Of Summer, each share purchased equated to 0.025% share holding in Spirit Of Summer.
Due to the unfortunate passing of Spirit Of summer, the syndicate term has now ended.
