Pigeon Forge Powers To Victory At Uttoxeter – Race Report

After a promising runner-up effort at Plumpton on Easter Sunday, Pigeon Forge went one better with an impressive success at Uttoxeter on the 24th May.

Sent off at 16/1, Pigeon Forge was given a patient ride by Liam Harrison, settling just worse than midfield. Aside from one minor jumping error, she jumped fluently throughout. Briefly outpaced at times, she responded well to Liam’s urgings to keep herself in contention. Despite showing signs of inexperience, she stayed on gamely up the home straight before powering clear on the run-in to score by a length, with the front two finishing 35 lengths clear of the remainder.

After the race, jockey Liam Harrison gave us his verdict on the performance:

“They went a nice gallop which brought her stamina into play. This big long straight really helped her where the sharp track at Plumpton didn’t last time. They went quick and once the favourite was beaten I knew it was there for us.”

Trainer Emma Lavelle reported the following day:

“Pigeon Forge is bright and happy this morning. She has plenty of ability and we have lots to look forward to. I think she could improve again for a break, even if it was just for June, so she can run through to the end of autumn before she has a proper winter break.”

This was a fantastic victory for our mare, who once again showed a superb attitude, sound jumping and plenty of ability. She looks a really exciting prospect, and her owners have many more days like this ahead of them , as well as some great memories from this success.
