Wendigo has enjoyed his summer break and returned looking fantastic. He has developed and strengthened up nicely and is now doing two routine canters each day. After a brilliant season that included a Grade 2 victory and a 22-length success at Ayr, he has three of the biggest races of the season in his sights: the £250,000 Coral Gold Cup at Newbury, the Welsh Grand National at Chepstow and, most famous of them all, the Grand National at Aintree.
Handlethekettle made a fantastic return to action when second at Worcester and has come out of the race in good order. He will head to Chepstow for the valuable Silver Trophy next on Saturday 10th October.
A Path To Ronda was a real star last season, winning twice and placing in Listed and Grade 2 company. She enjoyed her summer holiday before unfortunately stepping on a blackthorn, which needed removing. She is now back trotting and will continue to build up her work over the coming weeks. There are some nice targets over fences this season, including several Listed possibilities, while Jamie also has the option of switching her back to hurdles, something he has successfully done with other quality mares in the past.
Jukebox King has been cantering nicely on the round gallop and on the hill. He has really developed and matured through the summer and the team are very pleased with him. He will have a small wind operation as he did last year.
Legendary Luke won twice last season and has developed and strengthened up over the summer. Jamie is looking forward to sending him novice handicap chasing this season, with plenty of options throughout the campaign. The National Hunt Challenge Cup at the Cheltenham Festival is a potential main aim later in the season.
Pigeon Forge continues to work well at home and trainer Emma Lavelle is delighted with her. Providing the ground comes up in her favour, it shouldn’t be too long until we see her back on the racecourse.
Love Always has been working well at home and trainer Ollie Sangster is hoping to see her back out for her second race later this month, with an option being Southwell on the 26th.
Victory Max continues to show a good attitude and is working well with some other two-year-olds. He has been doing some nice faster work on the Cambridge Road gallop and Harry Eustace is pleased with his progress.
Lucky Luna ran with plenty of credit to finish fifth at Newbury on Friday, despite a wide draw and being short of room at a crucial point in the race. We will no doubt have plenty more great days out with her over the coming months.
From Me To You put in his best effort to date at Wolverhampton on Friday, finishing third (less than a length off the winner). It appears to be only a matter of time before he gains his first win!
Redbud Sixteen ran a cracker to finish a close fourth at Newbury on Friday, despite having to concede weight all around. With the ground starting to go in her favour, we should see her to even better effect in her upcoming races.
Lord d’Or has been going well at home and trainer Andrew Balding has given him an early entry in the Old Rowley Cup Handicap on Friday 9th October.
Magic Runner finished 8th at Wolverhampton on Monday, and trainer Ruth Carr is hoping to have her back out again later this month. Owners will receive renewal information next week.
Denby’s Dream ran with credit to finish sixth at Bath earlier this week and trainer Charlie Pike is hoping to have her back out on the racecourse later this month.
Red Spirit continues to do very well with his work at home and Andrew Balding has been impressed with him. He hopes he can make his debut in early October all being well.
Stepanov has settled in very well at Bonita Stables. He has impressed with his hurdles work and trainer Emma Lavelle hopes to see him make his hurdles debut in October.
