Horse Updates 14/05/26

Wendigo has had a fantastic season, highlighted by his Grade 2 John Francome victory at Ayr, and he was a little unlucky at Cheltenham. He will now enjoy a summer break before returning next season, with plans aimed towards races such as the Hennessey and Grand National, likely following a prep run in the Old Roan or the intermediate race at Carlisle.

Handlethekettle enjoyed a prolific spell last summer and is now back cantering as he builds up for another campaign later this summer and into early autumn. His main autumn target will be the Silver Trophy at Chepstow.

A Path To Ronda has had a great season, winning two novice hurdles and picking up valuable black type in both a Listed event and a Grade 2. She will now enjoy a summer break before returning for a campaign over novice fences and top-class mares’ hurdles next season.

Jukebox King has had a good season over hurdles and is enjoying his summer holiday in the field with his friends and will be relaxing until around early July. We can look forward to a novice chasing campaign where we should see him at his best.

Legendary Luke has had a great season, winning two novice hurdles as well as being placed in a Grade 2 and a Class 3 under a penalty. He has now been wound down for his summer break and will return to light exercise in July, with the plan to go novice chasing in the autumn.

Pigeon Forge is in good order at home and we have been waiting for a little bit of rain to take the firm out of the ground. She has an entry at Stratford on Sunday 17th.

Brodie’s Boy is back working well and Tony Carroll is pleased with him. He has options at Windsor and Bath upcoming.

Blackwaterfoot is ready to make his seasonal debut. He was entered at Newmarket on Friday 15th May, but Charlie Pike has opted to not declare and wait for Haydock on Friday 22nd which should be more suitable.

Unknown Journey was found to have a slight overreach after his last race at Southwell but has recovered well and Tony will be looking at entries for him soon.

Love Always continues to progress and has had her worked stepped up, with a view to make her debut around the middle of June.

Victory Max unfortunately has a minor setback, with some slight thickening in a near fore tendon consistent with juvenile tendonitis, which is normal for two year olds. There is no damage, but two to three weeks of rest will be required before returning to work.

Lucky Luna has been moving well in hand and enjoying the saltwater treadmill. She has had a new medication to ease her knee issue and has responded very well.

From Me To You has undergone a routine castration operation and is recovering well while relaxing at home. He will now be given time to recover before returning to light work in around 3 to 4 weeks.This should improve his concentration and help him relax more at the races to allow him to show the level of ability that the team at Herridge have seen in his work.

Redbud Sixteen is making good progress and Charlie is very pleased with her. She has an entry at Haydock on Friday 22nd May.

Bosh Soldier was entered in the Tattersalls Online Sale earlier this week but unfortunately did not sell. She has officially been retired and was collected from Tony Carroll by Kate Tibbitts of Acehorse Racehorse, who specialises in the retraining and rehoming of racehorses. She will now receive the very best care before being rehomed as a riding horse to a fully vetted home approved by both Kate and Racing Club.

Lord d’Or has been pleasing the team at home and is declared to run in a strong novice stakes at York. The final race on the card at 17:15 on Friday 15th May.

Karthon made a pleasing comeback run at Kempton, finishing his race off nicely for fifth and has come out of it in good order.

Magic Runner is now enjoying a break after a busy and successful winter, before trainer Ruth Carr finds her some suitable races on the turf.
